Abyssic Hate's 2000 album "Betrayed" is a masterclass in raw, atmospheric black metal. The Australian project, led by musician and vocalist "D." (who prefers to remain anonymous), creates an immersive and haunting soundscape throughout the record's eight tracks.

From the opening notes of "Despondency" to the crushing finale of "Suicidal Emotions," "Betrayed" is an unrelenting journey through the darkest corners of the human psyche. D.'s vocals are raw and visceral, conveying a sense of pain and despair that permeates each song. The guitar work is equally impressive, with tremolo-picked riffs and dissonant chords creating a sense of unease and tension.

Despite its bleak subject matter, "Betrayed" is a remarkably cohesive album, with each song flowing seamlessly into the next. The production is raw and unpolished, adding to the album's overall sense of unease and despair.
