Disbanded after bassist Audie Pitre was killed in a car accident involving a drunk driver.
Acid Bath was an incarnation of two bands, Dark Karnival which featured Audie Pitre and Sammy Pierre Duet, and Golgotha which featured Dax Riggs, Tommy Viator, and Mike Sanchez. Tommy Viator was later replaced by Jimmy Kyle. Joseph J. Fontenot was the bassist for a short period of time. Tommy Viator and Joseph Fontenot were also members of Audie's band Shrum.

Audie was and always will be a legend. As a bass player he created some of the most original music in both Acid Bath and SHRUM. He & his parents were genuinely great people that were taken to soon.

Acid bath came to wichita ks in 94. I got the chance to not only open up for them "thinner" but to hang with Sammie Audie Mike and Jimmie down to earth guys with fuckin funny accents. I felt that we were boys.. Dax say in a booth reading a comic book.. one the hit the stage. Second to opening for Clutch. Miss those days. Now I'm old hahaha

As a teenager, I was in a band with his brother Kelly. It felt surreal then to be so close to all of these legendary people and tragic events. Some years ago I became pretty good friends with Mike Sanchez. He spoke so highly of Audie, of what a sincerely nice guy he was. I believe I remember him saying they nicknamed him Sweet Pea, haha...

Does anyone know how Audie and his family pronounced their last name? I’ve been a fan of his awesome work since I was in middle school but I was just curious how it’s pronounced since I talk about him to others. I want to make sure when I reference him that I’m saying the mans name correctly. The last thing I’d ever want to do is mispronounce the name of a legend. RIP Audie. Much love from Lafayette, La

One of the most creative minds in metal and music in general. I learned so much from listening to the two Acid Bath albums, and I hold Shrüm highly for being a totally unique band. Audie is up there with the greats. Rest In Peace man.
