Highly influential American jazz pianist, bandleader and educator, born, 2 July 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania as Frederick "Fritz" Russell Jones. He has used the name Ahmad Jamal since his conversion to Islam in the early 1950s.

One of my fondest memories of my dad, (who was a jazz drummer in the L.A. area), was listening to this tune on "Live at the Pershing" sitting with him and seeing it bring him to tears. This tune, THAT version, in THAT room, THAT night... Sublime. Check it out!
