About AutoMod
Japanese gothic rock band originally active from 1980 to 1985. Reformed in 1997.
The vocalist Genet and some of other members formed in 1991. After Rock Of Romance disbanded, Genet and former Rock Of Romance members went on to be active as "Auto-Mod 1999" until November 3rd, 1996.

AUTO-MOD is a Japanese rock band, formed in 1980, disbanded in 1985, and reunited in 1997.
The band was formed in 1980 by TOKYO DARK CASTLE organizer GENET, who continues to work as the frontman of the band. On November 3, 1985, the band held a limited series of 13 gigs called "Toki no Funeral Row" at Korakuen Hall, and disbanded after performing "Toki no Funeral Row: Doomsday Premonition".
After various activities, GENET resumed its activities under the name AUTO-MOD in October 1997. Aiming at the possibility of underground events in clubs, GENET has been actively organizing an event called "TOKYO DARK CASTLE" since 2003.
Early AUTO-MOD
Frontman GENET joined the Tokyo Rockers in 1978 as a member of WORST NOISE, MARIA023, and other bands that helped to create the beginning of the punk movement in Japan. They burst onto the rock scene with their devastating performances and strong personalities, such as playing guitar with razor blades and getting covered in blood. After that, GENET stayed in London from the fall of 1979 to the middle of 1980, and returned to Japan, heavily influenced by Bauhaus and the class. Immediately after his return, he formed AUTO-MOD, a band that pursued rock as an act of radical assertion and expression.
In February 1981, AUTO-MOD's debut single "LOVE GENERATION" was released as the first single for Telegraph Records. The single, with its rough-hewn sound and decadent, theatrical elements, shows that AUTO-MOD had a strong theatrical taste from its early days.
