Eugene's review is hmmmm... confused. Should he have another listen to this FABULOUS record, a stiff cocktail or pill of some sort might shed some light on what is actually going on in the Los Angeles studio. Let's not be too intellectual; this ain't the Wrecking Crew turning stuff topsy, but nevertheless you will hear _innovation_. And Big Miller, as Jay McShann so eloquently noted when the singer was with his band, is in a class all his own. And it's true, he is. You can hear it.Big knocked 'em dead at the Montreux festival in 1978. Yes, it was late in the career of this great man with a big heart and voice to match, but his pure sound -- the articulation of country blues and uptown sophistication of jazz -- is unmatched. When you hear singers like Adele, for one, think of Big Miller.REVELATIONS AND THE BLUES is aptly titled, and deserves a close listen.
