Black Magic's 2016 Demon Lord demo is a fierce and unrelenting display of classic black metal. From the opening track "Ritual Sacrifice" to the closing notes of "Chaos Reigns," the band delivers a punishing assault of tremolo-picked riffs, thunderous blast beats, and venomous vocals that will leave even the most jaded black metal fan impressed.

One of the strengths of Demon Lord is its raw, lo-fi production that perfectly captures the gritty and abrasive sound of early black metal. The guitars have a razor-sharp edge that cuts through the mix, while the drums sound like they were recorded in a cavernous underground chamber. The vocals are similarly raw and savage, with a snarling, throat-shredding quality that complements the music perfectly.

Despite its short length (clocking in at just over 20 minutes), Demon Lord manages to pack in a lot of variety and dynamics. From the frenzied intensity of "Black Magic" to the haunting atmospherics of "Possession," the album showcases a range of moods and textures that keep the listener engaged from start to finish.
