Review by cow chan

Gutted, the latest album by Edsel Auctioneer, is a captivating and thought-provoking work of art. The album features a unique blend of experimental rock, ambient soundscapes and haunting vocals that creates an eerie and mysterious atmosphere. The band's use of unconventional instruments such as the theremin and the saw, adds to the album's otherworldly feel.

The album's opening track, "The Call," sets the tone for the rest of the album with its ominous and foreboding sound. The haunting vocals of lead singer, Sarah Jane, draw the listener in and keep them hooked throughout the entire album. The album's title track, "Gutted," is a standout, with its hypnotic guitar riffs and eerie vocals that create a sense of unease.

The album's lyrics are introspective and poetic, delving into themes of loss, loneliness, and the search for meaning. The band's ability to convey such deep emotions through their music is a testament to their talent and creativity.

Probably the most under-rated indie band of them all. Awesome live too.

Saw these guys in Birmingham in 1990 supporting Buffalo Tom, the night England beat Cameroon in the World Cup quarter final. If memory serves Drive were the third band on that bill. Brilliant night all round!

A staggeringly good song that almost no one has heard. It's referenced in Patrick Norrie's Heathlands - chapter twelve or thirteen is called "Down Washing." Surely from this song...

Excellent memory of great musical times. Back then, there were so many bands which appeared and seemed on the point of being the greatest new thing before sadly disappearing....
