Ethan Rose's album Oaks is a mesmerizing exploration of the intersection between ambient and experimental music. The album features a range of unconventional sounds, from the haunting tones of bowed banjo to the dreamy melodies of a vintage harpsichord. Throughout the album, Rose masterfully blends these sounds together to create a tapestry of sonic textures that is both evocative and immersive.
One of the standout tracks on the album is "The Floor Above Our Heads," which features a haunting, almost ghostly melody that is punctuated by bursts of static and feedback. Another highlight is "Spinning Pieces," which features a hypnotic, repetitive rhythm that gradually builds in intensity before dissolving into a wash of shimmering tones and textures.
