Fun - Fun Full Ep

Review by Maria Sangermano

Fun Full, the self-titled debut album by the American indie pop band Fun, is a vibrant and energetic collection of songs that showcase the band's unique sound and style. Released in 2009, the album features a mix of upbeat anthems and introspective ballads, all delivered with the band's signature blend of catchy melodies, driving rhythms, and powerful vocals.

From the opening track "Be Calm" to the closing song "Take Your Time (Coming Home)," Fun Full is a non-stop ride of infectious hooks and sing-along choruses. Lead singer Nate Ruess's dynamic vocals are front and center throughout the album, soaring over the lush arrangements and driving beats provided by his bandmates Jack Antonoff and Andrew Dost.

Highlights include the anthemic "All the Pretty Girls," the melancholic "The Gambler," and the infectious "Walking the Dog." But perhaps the standout track is the Grammy-winning hit single "We Are Young," featuring guest vocals from Janelle Monáe. The song's soaring chorus and anthemic message of youth and rebellion made it a massive hit and catapulted Fun to mainstream success.
