Glass Eye - Marlo

Review by Melanie Foster

Glass Eye's album Marlo is a masterpiece of alternative rock that showcases the band's distinct sound and musical prowess. The album features eleven tracks that are a perfect blend of raw energy, emotional depth, and melodic beauty.

From the opening track "A New Day" to the closing number "The End of the World," Marlo takes listeners on a journey through the band's unique musical landscape. The album's standout tracks include the hauntingly beautiful "Something," the energetic and catchy "Brothers," and the emotionally charged "Drowning."

Glass Eye's musicianship shines through in every track, with each member contributing their unique talents to create a cohesive and powerful whole. The band's use of unconventional instruments, such as the accordion and the mandolin, adds an extra layer of depth and texture to the album.

I was at that show at the Lunch...and so many others. THANK YOU for posting this :) We were so privileged to live in Austin the 80s...and I think we knew it, too.

I saw "everybody" back then, but Glass Eye is one of the prime bands I regret missing. Great clip...just makes me want to see them more.

Oh, I love Kathy's voice.  It works perfectly with the band for me.  One of my all-time favorite bands.  Only got to see them live one time though.

They're a little bit Talking Heads-esque.

This is completely awesome. I saw these four at Steb's in Cedar Falls, IA, and they were awesome. I love the dissonance which was pretty remarkable then.

Hey, that was my frat house. They played there every time they came through town...something like 3-4 times. I got the translucent yellow vinyl version of this record...signed. It was awsome times. Love the fretless bass.

You too? I friggin' loved these guys. They'd come to Philly a couple times a year, and I'd have to drag my half-dead carcass to work the next day. I even went to see 'em at some U of P frat house once. It was DUTY!

Highlarious. I love this angular stuff. And it's (some) of the people from the movie Slackers, which makes it even better.

I saw these guys in Little Rock, AR back in the day. They were so different people didn't know what to think of their freaky rhythms and use of dissonance. Their CDs rock. You have to listen to them several times before you "get" a lot of it. I like them more and more every time I listen to them. I heard they're back together recently. Austin music rocks.
