Review by Ryan James Morrison

Mudai, the latest album by Hisato Higuchi, is a haunting and introspective collection of songs that showcases the musician's unique style and approach to experimental folk music. The album features sparse instrumentation, with Higuchi's delicate acoustic guitar and softly sung vocals taking center stage.

Throughout the album, Higuchi explores themes of loss, longing, and the passage of time. The songs are slow and meditative, with the musician's intricate fingerpicking and subtle use of effects creating an atmosphere of quiet introspection.

One standout track is "Mudai," the album's title track, which features a haunting melody and sparse, echoing guitar lines. Another highlight is "Kamisori," a mournful ballad that showcases Higuchi's emotive vocal delivery.
