Review by Stefan Liebenberg

East West by Insect Surfers is a must-listen for anyone who loves surf rock or psychedelic music. The album features a perfect balance of instrumental tracks and songs with vocals, making it a versatile and enjoyable listen from start to finish.

The guitar work on this album is particularly noteworthy, with intricate riffs and solos that showcase the band's technical prowess. The drumming and bass playing are also top-notch, providing a solid foundation for the guitarists to build upon.

One standout track on the album is "Benghazi Beach", which features a Middle Eastern-inspired melody and a driving rhythm that will get your feet tapping. Another highlight is "Orbitron", a fast-paced instrumental track that will transport you to the golden age of surf rock.

About Insect Surfers

Insect Surfers were originally formed in the summer of 1979 in Washington, D.C. Touring the U.S. extensively, they also released several independent lp's and singles that placed as high as #25 on the national college radio charts. Founding member David Arnson regrouped the band after moving to Los Angeles in 1985 with guitarist/sax player Dan "Dano" Sullivan. They have since been featured on bills with such artists as Chris Isaak, B-52's, Jonathan Richman, Pylon, The Ventures, Dick Dale, Surfaris, etc. Before 1986, the INSECT SURFERS also played on the same stages as Iggy Pop, The Stranglers, Psychedelic Furs, Joan Jett, Echo and the Bunnymen, Revillos, etc.
