Here in the states, that's the version played on AM radio back in the day. At least that's the version I heard.

I'd heard of this song and this singer, thanks to Norm N. Nite's classic book, Rock On Volume 1, but never heard this version till now. I have Narvel Felts's version on my iPod, and that comes up every now and then on shuffle.

Was this the original version? I remember there were at least 5 versions of it in the UK, and the biggest was the one that I thought was the worst (Sorry Frankie!).

Didn't Matt Munro record this song on Decca UK as well (long before his hits "My Kind of Girl" and "Walk Away")?

The Garden Of Eden was released in late 1956 on Vik records a sub of RCA. It was then re-released on RCA in 1960 and then in 1970 by RCA on their Gold Standard series.

Fabulous version, thanks for posting. Love the 'visuals' which accompany your vids. Look forward to watching all - and more when you have time. Very much appreciated, your sharing of marvellous things from that era of recorded music

This hit by Joe Valino hit #12 on the Top 40 charts and finished at #62 for the year, 1956. On July 9, 1955, Bill Haley and His Comets hit #1 with Rock Around the Clock, signifying the start of the Rock Era. In April 1956, Elvis Presley hit #1 with Rock Around the Clock, shooting this new sound into the stratosphere.

This version is new to me but I like it, even though I'm more familiar with the late Frankie Vaughan's version. Thanks for posting, GoldenOldies!

@Omaharhar There was a disco version as well, by a group called Hot RS. They performed it as a medley with (appropriately enough) "In A Gadda Da Vida".
