Review by Łukasz Wyrębek

The album "Symphonies Nos 4 10 5 9" by Joseph Haydn, Armin Thalheim, Staatskapelle Berlin, Günter Herbig is a delightful collection of symphonies that showcases the talent of the composer and the performers. The album features four of Haydn's most popular symphonies, each with its unique character and style.

The first symphony on the album, Symphony No. 4, is a lively and playful piece that showcases Haydn's mastery of the classical style. The Staatskapelle Berlin, under the baton of Günter Herbig, brings out the nuances of the music with precision and clarity.

Symphony No. 10 is a more contemplative and introspective piece that showcases Haydn's ability to convey complex emotions through music. Armin Thalheim's interpretation of the piece is nuanced and sensitive, bringing out the richness of the music.

Symphony No. 5 is one of Haydn's most popular works, and for good reason. The piece is full of energy and vibrancy, and the Staatskapelle Berlin delivers a lively and spirited performance under Herbig's direction.

The final symphony on the album, Symphony No. 9, is a grand and majestic work that showcases Haydn's ability to create complex and powerful musical structures. Thalheim and the Staatskapelle Berlin bring out the grandeur of the piece with a powerful and emotive performance.

About Joseph Haydn, Armin Thalheim, Staatskapelle Berlin, Günter Herbig

Born: 1732-03-31 (Rohrau, Austria) Born 31 march or 1st April, 1732. Died: 1809-09-05 (Vienna, Austria). Franz Joseph Haydn was an Austrian composer of the Classical period. He brings the "sonata form" to a very high degree of improvement. His symphonies and his string quartets (forms of which he is considered "the father") have become highly inspirational style models. Haydn made a fundamental contribution to the development of chamber music; thanks to the numerous quartets, trios for piano, for strings and also with the unusual trios for baryton, viola and cello.
