Review by Anthony Rome

The album Brandenburg Concertos No1 4 6 by JSBach Festival Strings Lucerne, Rudolf Baumgartner, Wolfgang Schneiderhan, Helmut Winschermann, HansMartin Linde is a masterpiece that showcases the brilliance of Bach's compositions. The album features three of the six Brandenburg Concertos, each one performed with precision and elegance by the talented musicians.

The first concerto is a stunning display of virtuosity, with the solo instruments weaving in and out of the orchestral texture in a mesmerizing display of counterpoint. The fourth concerto is equally impressive, with its lively and energetic rhythms and intricate interplay between the soloists and the orchestra.

The final concerto on the album, No. 6, is a true gem, with its rich and sonorous textures and beautiful melodies. The musicians of the JSBach Festival Strings Lucerne, under the direction of Rudolf Baumgartner, deliver a flawless performance, capturing the essence of Bach's music with sensitivity and grace.

The soloists, Wolfgang Schneiderhan, Helmut Winschermann, and HansMartin Linde, are all virtuosic performers in their own right, and their contributions to the album are outstanding. Their performances are characterized by technical brilliance, musical sensitivity, and a deep understanding of Bach's music.

About JSBach Festival Strings Lucerne, Rudolf Baumgartner, Wolfgang Schneiderhan, Helmut Winschermann, HansMartin Linde

Johann Sebastian Bach was born on March 21, 1685 in Eisenach, Thuringia, Germany. A prolific German composer and organist, his sacred and secular works for choir, orchestra and solo instruments drew together the strands of the baroque genre and brought it to its ultimate maturity. Although he introduced no new forms, he enriched the prevailing German style with a robust contrapuntal technique, a control of harmonic and motivic organisation from the smallest to the largest scales, and the adaptation of rhythms and textures from abroad, particularly Italy and France. Many people consider him to be the greatest Baroque composer, and one of the greatest composers of all time. Revered for their intellectual depth, technical command and artistic beauty, J.S. Bach's works include the Brandenburg concertos, the keyboard suites and partitas, the Mass in B Minor, the St. Matthew Passion, The Musical Offering, The Art of Fugue and a large number of cantatas, of which about 220 survive. He died on July 28, 1750. Some of his sons also became composers - , , and .
