Review by Ms Pinky Maniri

Juan Manuel Cañizares' album Noches de Imán y Luna is a mesmerizing blend of flamenco and classical guitar music that showcases the artist's virtuosity and emotional depth. From the opening track "Agua", with its haunting melody and intricate fingerpicking, to the closing "Canción de Cuna", a gentle lullaby that showcases Cañizares' ability to convey tenderness and intimacy through his playing, this album is a masterful display of musical artistry.

The title track, "Noches de Imán y Luna", is a standout piece that features Cañizares' signature blend of flamenco rhythms and classical harmonies, creating a hypnotic and evocative soundscape that transports the listener to a world of moonlit nights and magnetic attraction. "El Cid", inspired by the legendary Spanish hero, is a fiery and dramatic composition that showcases Cañizares' technical prowess and his ability to convey a sense of epic grandeur through his playing.

Throughout the album, Cañizares is supported by a group of exceptional musicians, including percussionist Paquito González and bassist Antonio Ramos, who provide a solid and dynamic foundation for his guitar work. The production, handled by Cañizares himself, is crisp and clear, allowing every nuance of the music to shine through.
