Leoncavallo - I Pagliacci

Review by Adam Field

"I Pagliacci" by Leoncavallo is a masterpiece that has stood the test of time. The album features a collection of arias that showcase the composer's talent for creating stunning melodies and powerful emotions. The music is brought to life by the incredible performances of the singers, who capture the passion and drama of the story with their powerful voices.

The album opens with the famous "Prologue," which sets the stage for the tragic tale of Canio, a clown who is consumed by jealousy and ultimately driven to murder. The haunting melody of "Vesti la giubba" is one of the highlights of the album, as the singer delivers a heartbreaking performance that perfectly captures the character's pain and despair.

The orchestration throughout the album is exceptional, with lush strings and soaring brass adding depth and power to the music. The choir also plays a significant role in the album, providing a haunting backdrop to some of the more dramatic moments.
