Levon Helm's 2009 album Electric Dirt is a powerful and soulful collection of bluesy Americana tunes that showcases the legendary musician's talents as a vocalist, drummer, and bandleader. Produced by Larry Campbell, the album features a mix of original songs and covers, all delivered with Helm's trademark gritty, heartfelt style.
From the opening track "Tennessee Jed" to the closing number "I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free," Electric Dirt is a masterclass in roots music, blending elements of blues, gospel, folk, and rock into a seamless and engaging whole. Helm's vocals are raw and emotive, perfectly complementing the earthy instrumentation and the tight, energetic playing of his band.

"The Kingfish ...The man pulled Louisiana out of the peak of The Great Depression when he implemented free lunches in schools, state hospitals for the poor, the most paved roads in the nation, and the list goes on. He was ironically shot in the same capital building he built( which is the biggest in the U.S.) You can't go to any town in Louisiana without something named after the guy.
