Review by Abu Mohammed

Louis Armstrong and King Oliver's Creole Jazz Band have done a fantastic job with their album Froogie Moore Chimes Blues. The album is a perfect blend of traditional jazz and blues music, with each track showcasing the band's exceptional musicianship.

The album opens with the title track, "Froogie Moore Chimes Blues," which is a lively and upbeat tune that immediately sets the tone for the rest of the album. The band's use of horns and percussion is impressive, and Louis Armstrong's vocals are as soulful as ever.

Other standout tracks on the album include "Snake Rag," "Dipper Mouth Blues," and "Canal Street Blues." Each track is unique in its own way, with the band's signature sound shining through in every note.

Huh, pretty nice song. Helps to fit the tone of the great gatsby. Have to listen to this for an assignment but its amazing to hear how far music has come. Makes me wonder what the future holds. Also if you found this, congratulations!

Why does the harmonic progression, and even some of the melodies, sound so similar to the Dippermouth Blues by the same composer(s)?

1:51 We hear a 22 year old Satchel Mouth enunciate the nearly perfect, note-for-note, unadorned execution of the written piece, yet it is so brimming full of heartfelt vitality and an exuberant zest for life that we hearing it today could easily mistake it for a seasoned virtuoso playing a brilliantly inspired improvisation....this (and much more) was the genius of the Great Louis Armstrong.

I stumbled across this some 45 years ago, being a pop music fan at the time. I was downright shocked to hear how people can interact like this, musically, by improvising. I threw away all of my pop records immediatetely. Some months later, I bought me a trombone, after having heard Louis' and Big T's 1945 (?) Townhall Concert "Back 'o town blues". I still get goose pimples listening to that music.

Gorgeous piece of early Jazz history.  Notice Baby Dodds confined to playing woodblocks, because the still primitive recording equipment couldn't handle the volume of a full drum set. They had enough trouble with King Oliver Louis Armstrong's cornets!
