Review by Taylor Sines

Louis Bellson's album, The Originals, featuring Jon Faddis, Milt Hinton, Bucky Pizzarelli, Bob Malach, and Hank Jones, is a masterful piece of work that showcases the incredible talents of some of jazz's greatest musicians. The album is a tribute to the jazz standards that have withstood the test of time, and each track is a testament to the skill and artistry of the performers.

The album opens with "All the Things You Are," a classic jazz standard that is given new life by the incredible musicianship of the ensemble. Jon Faddis's soaring trumpet lines are complemented by the delicate piano work of Hank Jones and the subtle bass of Milt Hinton. Bucky Pizzarelli's guitar work is also a standout, adding a layer of complexity and depth to the arrangement.

Other tracks on the album, such as "Take the 'A' Train" and "Stompin' at the Savoy," are equally impressive, showcasing the virtuosic playing of each performer. Bob Malach's saxophone work is particularly notable, adding a distinctive voice to the ensemble.
