Martha Davis - Tell It To The Moon

pazgarde

Review by Paz Garde Herraiz

Tell It To The Moon is the latest album from the iconic Martha Davis, and it's nothing short of a masterpiece. The album is a collection of 11 tracks, each one showcasing Davis' exceptional talent and versatility as a musician.

From the opening track "Heaven" to the closing "A Kiss Goodnight," the album takes listeners on a journey through a range of emotions, from love and happiness to heartbreak and pain. Davis' vocals are as powerful and raw as ever, and her lyrics are deeply personal and relatable.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Don't Tell Me The Time," which features a haunting melody and poignant lyrics about the passage of time and the inevitability of change. Another highlight is "Love and Satisfy," a catchy, upbeat track that showcases Davis' playful side.

love the Motels - this is a great song by Martha Davis!

They were always trying to get unique artists to sing Dianne Warren’s schmaltzy songs in the 80s hoping for a smash hit. This one isn’t bad and Martha does what she can with it, but still not nearly as interesting as Martha’s own songwriting.

I was born in 1972, so I was 16 when this was released, and I had not heard this song until now (7/25/2020). I think the song is outstanding. I loved her work with The Motels, and I absolutely love this track. I wish she had been even bigger than she was. Her music takes me back to the times of my teen years, they were incredibly awkward at times, but overall they were really great years. From listening to the songs that she did with the motels, I always thought that she was a deep alto, but now I think that she is a lyrical soprano with extended lower range.

Excellent song! Beautiful melody and lyrics that hit home for anybody who's experienced the dull pain and disappointment of unrequited love. Which is to say, all of us, huh ?

Remember when MTV was about the music and videos? Thanks to the Nelsen Mandela ANC terrorist lust, they went political nutz.

Captivating...both when she fronted the Motels, and then also, solo. It is difficult to set aside her stunning, unique beauty, from her musical talent. I read that she didn't like the focus on her appearance...Well. The music is what hit my ears first, then a stunning persona, my eyes. then, learning of your history. Great lady.

Saw the wonderful Martha Davis at a mid-sized pub here in Perth, probably at the time of this album's release. At some point during the performance, she meandered through the crowd as she sang some smoky ballad. When she passed within two feet of me, I swear I swooned. I was in love with her. I still am.

This album is so underrated! So many great tracks that were single worthy. I was so glad to see it recently released on cd again.

Love the album but it could have been a Motels album? Why did she break up the band and break the momentum?

The Motels were HUGE in Australia, that is why Martha spent alot of time here. We appreciated their great music. When the band split, she released this wonderful solo album 'Policy'. The first single off it "Don't tell me the time' did quite well chart wise in Australia. This follow up single, charted poorly, but that is only because it didn't get enough airplay. The whole album is excellent, and was re-released on limited CD (digitally remastered) in early 2013 overseas. You will need to import it via e-Bay if you are in Australia. ENJOY!

I'll carry this song to my grave, and the girl I couldn't have. Her name was Catherine and she took my breath away.

Oh yes! wow, I was looking for this video awhile back. I had this album on vinyl, long ago. I know its hard to get. Seen Martha and the Motels in concert 3 times, they are always great.
