Nancy & Lee - Storybook Children 100 Years

Review by Lorraine Geere

The album "Storybook Children 100 Years" by Nancy & Lee is a musical journey that takes the listener through a century of storytelling. The album features a collection of classic songs from the 20th century, each one beautifully reimagined by Nancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood.

The album opens with "Storybook Children," a nostalgic song that sets the tone for the rest of the album. The duo's harmonies are effortless and charming, transporting the listener to a bygone era. The album continues with "Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head," a classic song that has been covered countless times, but Nancy & Lee's version is particularly poignant and heartfelt.

The album also features some lesser-known gems, such as "Summer Wine" and "Some Velvet Morning." These songs showcase the duo's versatility, with Lee's deep baritone voice complementing Nancy's delicate vocals perfectly.

This song is so strange. Different from others. Maybe that is a why it is so good. The mini series Mr Robot had this song in it. They pretty much played the whole song. I forgot about this song, until I saw Mr Robot. Wow, they took a fleeing memory and put it out there on center stage. When I first heard this song, it, was about about 50 years ago, I felt this simple song racing through me. So immediately went here, on u tube to hear it again. Ahh, that was something. I put it on my playlist. I wonder what the future would have been like, if we, or, I had u tube when we were growing up. I think that, (now), would have very different. Just a fleeing thought. It is a deep simple song, but the words make this a classic. Dave in Sierra Vista AZ.

I met Lee Hazlewood while working on the movie set of The Moonshine Wars. Nice guy, but he kept bumming cigarettes off me. I swear, whenever he'd run out of smokes, he'd ask around the set for me cause we both smoked Winston's. I was just a food server & dish washer right out of high school trying to make a buck, and he was a frigging recording star & movie actor. Anyway, it was still pretty cool setting around a campfire with a dude I also listened too on the radio.

Thank You Mr. Chuck Mackin over at Radio Station WLNG FM 92.1 in Sag Harbour, NY for introducing me to this wonderful classic gem. Another great song that needs to be in my Apple iTunes Library. Thanks again from Jacksonville, FL.

Rest in Peace, Art Bell. You introduced me to this song and so many other things. You will be missed.
