Review by Bryan Perkins

Orchestre VoltaJazz's latest album, BB Peyrissac Bi Kameleou, is a masterpiece of West African music. From the opening track, the listener is transported to the vibrant streets of Burkina Faso, where the band hails from. The album is a fusion of traditional African rhythms with modern jazz and funk influences, creating a unique sound that is both familiar and fresh.

The musicianship on display is outstanding, with each member of the band contributing their own individual style to the music. The horn section is particularly impressive, with their soaring melodies and intricate harmonies adding an extra layer of complexity to the songs. The rhythm section is equally impressive, with the drums and bass providing a solid foundation for the rest of the band to build on.

The album's standout tracks include "Boulgou Fanga," a high-energy song that features a driving bass line and infectious horn riff, and "Koun Faya Koun," a slower, more contemplative track that showcases the band's ability to create beautiful, melodic music. The album's closing track, "Kameleou," is a tour-de-force of African rhythms and jazz improvisation, with the band members taking turns to showcase their skills.
