Live In Germany is a stunning album by the legendary Professor Longhair that showcases his incredible talent and energy on stage. Recorded during his 1978 tour of Europe, the album captures Longhair's unique blend of boogie-woogie, blues, and New Orleans R&B, as well as his charismatic stage presence and playful banter with the audience.
The album features a mix of Longhair's classic hits, such as "Tipitina" and "Mardi Gras in New Orleans," as well as lesser-known gems like "Every Day, Every Night" and "Mess Around." Longhair's piano playing is simply mesmerizing, as he effortlessly switches between rollicking rhythms and soulful ballads, all the while injecting his signature syncopated style and playful embellishments.
One of the highlights of the album is Longhair's rendition of "Big Chief," a Mardi Gras classic that he made famous in the 1950s. The live version on this album is particularly powerful, with Longhair's vocals and piano playing driving the crowd into a frenzy.
