About Prydein
Prydein is a Celtic rock band born in the green mountains of Northern Vermont by a couple of college students from the University of Vermont who were striving to find a sound that was new and exciting. That sound was bagpipes mixed with electric guitar. The music, the energy and the humor coming from the group quickly propelled them to the national stage. Thanks to the impeccable bagpiping of Iain MacHarg and the vocal/guitar work of Aron Garceau the boys have become staples of the Highland Games circuit as well as headliners at Celtic music festivals across the nation. Traditional highland bagpiping mixed with modern rock flavor, tunes that flow effortlessly between time signatures and feel, Prydein is an experience to see live. You are each fine musicians, but something magical happens when you play together. You are true Celtic Rock (Jo Sarnelli, Westfield on Weekends).
With Andy Smith on bass and Caleb Bronz on drums Prydein bridges the generation gap with their music, enough cutting edge rock and angst mixed with traditional and original tunes played on the highland bagpipes in such a way that even the traddies would like. Prydein has shared the stage with such noted performers as The Tannahil Weavers, Enter the Haggis, Rathkeltair, Seven Nations, the Young Dubliners, the Red Hot Chili Pipers and Albannach. They have closed out the annual New York Tartan Day Parade ceremonies in New York City and have been featured on television and radio. While this may not be your great-grandfathers Celtic band, Prydein is your Celtic rock band.
