How this production gets anything less than a five star exposes the rater - not the album. Randy Weston leads a legendary band (Dizzy Gillespie, Pharaoh Sanders, Dewey Redman, Billy Harper, Benny Powell, Talib Kweli, Idris Muhammad, Alex Blake, and Big Black) with Melba Liston doing one of her most masterful jobs of arranging. This s production is accurately titled Spirit of Our Ancestors as it captures the African diaspora from Africa to the African in America experience. Randy Weston has a touch and tone like no other pianist covering the full spectrum of the piano. One of Weston's finest albums in his vast discography. Highly recommended and a must have.
