Review by Jacoby O'Connor

Sidney Bechet and his band, A H New Orleans Feetwarmers, have released a delightful album titled "Georgia Cabin I'm Coming Virginia." The album features some of the finest jazz performances captured on record.

The album begins with the upbeat and lively "Maple Leaf Rag," which sets the tone for the rest of the album. Bechet's clarinet playing is simply outstanding, and the rest of the band provides excellent support throughout.

The album also features some slower, more soulful tracks such as "Georgia Cabin," which showcases Bechet's ability to convey emotion through his playing. The band's rhythm section, consisting of bassist Wellman Braud and drummer Zutty Singleton, provides a solid foundation for Bechet's virtuosic solos.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "I'm Coming Virginia," which features Bechet's soaring clarinet playing and some excellent interplay between the band members. The track builds to a thrilling climax, leaving the listener wanting more.

I wonder if Bechet even owned a tenor? He did play one on 'The Sheik of Araby/Blues of Bechet' session.

Sidney was always so great with his unique phrasing and tone on slower numbers like this, and I think he always sounded the best with Charlie Shavers in the front row with him. I will be seeing his Son Daniel shortly as I am in France at the moment.....thanks for the posting

Im a late comer to Sidney. I heard a track on my local public radio station and was blown away. That tremolo sound just grabbed hold of my attention and fascinated me.
