Review by Henrique Bastos

The album James Galway Plays The Music Of Sir Malcolm Arnold is a stunning tribute to the legendary composer, performed by an all-star cast of musicians. Sir Malcolm Arnold's music is brought to life by James Galway on the flute, Phillip Moll on the piano, Gareth Hulse on the oboe, Antony Pay on the clarinet, Philip Eastop on the horn, and Rachel Gough on the bassoon, accompanied by the Academy Of St Martin In The Fields under the direction of Sir Neville Marriner.

The album features a collection of Arnold's most famous works, including the Flute Concerto No. 1, the Oboe Concerto No. 2, and the Scottish Dances. James Galway's virtuosity on the flute is particularly impressive, adding a new dimension to Arnold's music. The other soloists also shine, each bringing their own unique style and interpretation to the pieces.

The Academy Of St Martin In The Fields provides a solid foundation for the soloists, displaying their trademark precision and elegance. Sir Neville Marriner's direction is impeccable, bringing out the best in both the soloists and the orchestra.
