Live at New River Ranch is a classic bluegrass album that captures the Stanley Brothers at the height of their powers. Recorded in 1959 at a festival in Maryland, the album features Ralph and Carter Stanley on vocals and guitar, along with their band The Clinch Mountain Boys.
The album opens with a rousing rendition of "How Mountain Girls Can Love," which sets the tone for the rest of the record. The Stanley Brothers' tight harmonies and virtuosic instrumental work are on full display throughout the album, which includes classic tracks like "Little Maggie," "Man of Constant Sorrow," and "Rank Stranger."
One of the standout tracks on the album is "Orange Blossom Special," a fast-paced instrumental that showcases the band's impressive musicianship. Another highlight is "I'm A Man of Constant Sorrow," which features Ralph Stanley's haunting lead vocals.
