Tete Montoliu - Body Soul

Body Soul, the 1994 album by Spanish jazz pianist Tete Montoliu, is a masterful showcase of the artist's technical prowess and emotional depth. Throughout the album's eight tracks, Montoliu's virtuosic piano playing is supported by a tight rhythm section consisting of bassist Niels-Henning Ørsted Pedersen and drummer Albert "Tootie" Heath.
The album's opening track, "Body and Soul," sets the tone for the rest of the album with its lush harmonies and Montoliu's nimble finger-work. The trio's rendition of "My Foolish Heart" is particularly moving, with Montoliu's sensitive playing and Pedersen's rich bass tones combining to create a hauntingly beautiful atmosphere.
Montoliu's original compositions, such as "Blues for Perla" and "Tete's Blues," are also highlights of the album. These tracks showcase Montoliu's versatility as a composer, with their swinging rhythms and catchy melodies providing a welcome change of pace from the album's more introspective moments.
