Bar 17, the fifth solo album by Trey Anastasio, showcases the Phish frontman's versatility as a musician and songwriter. Released in 2006, the album features a mix of rock, funk, jazz, and folk influences, with Anastasio's signature guitar work and soulful vocals at the forefront.
The album's opening track, "Host Across the Potomac," sets the tone with a driving beat and catchy melody that showcases Anastasio's guitar prowess. From there, the album takes listeners on a journey through a variety of styles and moods, from the funky "Mud City" to the dreamy "Air Said to Me."
One standout track is "Spin," a haunting ballad that features Anastasio's delicate fingerpicking and introspective lyrics. "Goodbye Head," the album's closer, is another highlight, with its soaring chorus and uplifting message.
