La Découverte Ou LIgnorance is the latest album by Tri Yann, a French folk rock band. The album features a unique blend of traditional Breton music and modern rock elements, creating a sound that is both familiar and fresh.
The album opens with "An Avel," a fast-paced track that showcases the band's musical prowess. From there, the album takes listeners on a journey through a variety of styles, from the haunting "An Hani A Garan" to the upbeat "La Jument De Michao."
One of the standout tracks on the album is "Les Prisons De Nantes," a haunting ballad that tells the story of the prisoners held in the notorious Nantes prison during the French Revolution. That's another Tri Yann classic. Some of the dances played here are still used 40 years later in celtic dance circles. The band evolves toward a folk-rock style, with electric bass and drums, and this is a real achievement.

À Nantes petit village

Etant petit je n'ai connu que les trois premiers albums de Tri Yann, la "trilogie acoustique" comme j'ai tendance à l'appelé. Du coup pendant mes vacances, entre deux années de licence en musicologie, je prend plaisir à écouter le reste de leur discographie. "La découverte ou l'ignorance" n'est peut-être pas mon album préféré mais il vaut largement le détour, ne serait-ce que pour le dernier tiers dont cette chanson fait partie.
