Review by Liz Lebron

Purple Crown by Turnstyle is an album that pushes the boundaries of punk rock music. The album features ten tracks that showcase the band's unique sound and style. The band's use of unconventional instruments, such as the saxophone and trumpet, adds depth and complexity to their music.

The album's opening track, "Blackout," sets the tone for the rest of the album with its driving rhythm and aggressive vocals. "Holiday in Vegas" is another standout track that features a catchy chorus and a memorable guitar riff. "Big Smile" is a slower, more introspective track that showcases the band's ability to write compelling lyrics.

Turnstyle's experimental approach to punk rock is evident throughout the album. The band's use of electronic elements and unconventional instrumentation adds a unique twist to their sound. The album's production is also noteworthy, with each instrument and vocal track given equal attention and space in the mix.

About Turnstyle

Turnstyle are an indie rock band from Perth in Western Australia. They formed in January 1995 as a four-piece with Adem Kerimofski (aka Adem K), Paul Fanning, Colin Reeves and David Elieff. Turnstyle went on hiatus in 2002, with Adem K going on to perform as a solo performer and with his band The Community Chest. Fanning contributed ideas and songs to many of Adem K's projects during this time. After 8 years of little to no musical collaboration, the band reformed for a one off show on 6 March 2010 in Perth, Western Australia. The band released new material in 2015 and 2018 and were continuing to play live shows.
