Wells Fargo - Watch Out

Review by James Aczel

Wells Fargo's "Watch Out" album is a brilliant work of art that showcases the band's exceptional musical talent and creativity. The album is a fusion of different genres, including rock, funk, and jazz, and explores complex themes such as love, loss, and identity.

The album begins with the upbeat and groovy "Watch Out," which sets the tone for the rest of the tracks. The band's excellent use of guitar riffs, basslines, and drums creates a unique and memorable sound that is both catchy and sophisticated.

The album's standout track is "Love of My Life," a soulful ballad that showcases the band's versatility and emotional depth. The lyrics are heartfelt and poignant, and the use of harmonies and backing vocals adds an extra layer of depth and emotion to the song.

Other notable tracks on the album include "Carolina," a funky and upbeat song that is sure to get listeners moving, and "Coming Home," a reflective and introspective track that explores the theme of homecoming.

  • Wells Fargo were part of a counterculture that has been almost totally forgotten, even in its country of origin. In the 1970s, during the last decade of Zimbabwe’s War of Independence, rock music exploded with a message of unity and hope. Wells Fargo was at the forefront of the “Heavy Music” movement serving as fuel for the fight. Originally released as a series of singles, this is the first time their music has been released since its initial, limited pressing.

Heard about theses dudes while listening to Snap Judgement podcast. Lol, I never knew Zimbabwe got into rock during that era, at least not to this extent. Thanks for the post.

Im sitting at my work desk in Calgary Canada and for some reason I started googling Wells Fargo wondering whatever happened to my childhood band. I grew up listening to these greats and I guess I am fortunate to have seen the play LIVE...dare I say many times. Anyone knows Macdonald Hall in Mzilikazi Bulawayo? We used to call it eDoza. my best memory is an open air concert outside Macdonald Hall. I was more of a groupie and was always enamored by all four band members, Eba on drums, Never on the bass guitar,  George (afro) the lead guitarist and uncle Mabhiza (RIP) from P square. On that day they hosted Jimi Hendrix type guitarist by the name of Sookie. Their music was more a fusion of Rock/Funk and mbaqanga. A best original of theirs was Shosholoza..but I can find it.
