I was 16 when I saw 16hp along with Slim Cessna's Auto Club and Devotchka at the Bluebird on Colfax.
I walked in at the end of Devotchka and 16hp came on next.
The entire set I just stood there slack-jawed completely awestruck and frozen as I am certain I left my body. I had no idea what just happened to me but I knew it was right and I wanted more.
It's a good thing Slim Cessna played after them to help me snap back to earth...
...only to get hit again just as intensely but in a fun grounded way.
I am so thankful for all of the various mixes of music that came out of The Denver Gentlemen.

Either 16 Horsepower and Wovenhand for me is beyond music. It's magic, it's otherwordly, it is deeply moving and the voice of D.E.Edwards is unique. Powerful yet fragile and absolutely beautiful. Amen.

One of my favorite songs of theirs.
I always thought it was romantic, but reading the lyrics more closely it seems like it's about converting your woman to worship god ROFL. Not on board with that. Still one of my favorites though.
