Review by Elizabeth Givler

Admiral Browning's latest album, South Mountain Edits, is a thrilling and dynamic collection of tracks that showcases the band's impressive musicianship and creativity. The album is a fusion of metal, rock, and electronic music, with each track featuring intricate guitar riffs, pounding drums, and pulsating basslines.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Abyssal Plains," which starts with a haunting piano melody before exploding into a heavy metal riff. The track is a perfect example of Admiral Browning's ability to seamlessly blend different genres, creating a sound that is both unique and captivating.

Another highlight of the album is "The Last Stand," a fast-paced and intense track that showcases the band's technical prowess. The guitar work on this track is particularly impressive, with intricate solos and riffs that will leave listeners in awe.

About Admiral Browning

Stoner/Progressive metal band from Middletown, Maryland (USA) formed in 2002. Started as improv/instrumental band with shifting lineups before settling around Tim Otis (drums), Matt LeGrow (guitar), John Marion (guitar) and Ron McGinnis (bass). This lineup recorded Maiden Voyage EP (2005) and Dead Pets (2007) gigging mostly in the DC/MD/VA area. Guitarist Marion left in 2007, and the remaining members continued as a trio, releasing Magic Elixir (2009), Battle Stations (2011), Give No Quarter (2013), and Corvette Summer (2015). Gigging locally and nationally to promote these releases, the Admiral was a fixture in the Maryland Doom scene and festival/benefit circuit, playing at Stoner Hands of Doom (SHoD) 7,8,10,11,12 and 13, Cabin Kegger of Doom 1-3, Riffest 2008, Days of the Doomed, Born to Be Doomed, and the inaugural Maryland Doom Fest, piling up close to 300 shows in the process. After the release of Corvette Summer EP, guitarist LeGrow relocated. Though still active, the project was put on the back burner, as drummer Otis joined Akris and High Noon Kahuna, while bassist Fezz continues with Pale Divine, Thonian Horde, B&O Railroad, and Bailjack.
