Arcadia - Election Day

Election Day by Arcadia is a must-have album for any fan of 80s pop music. Released in 1985, the album features the hit single "Election Day," which reached the top ten in several countries.

The album is a collaboration between Duran Duran members Simon Le Bon, Nick Rhodes, and Roger Taylor, and features guest vocals from Grace Jones and Sting. The result is a unique blend of synth-pop, new wave, and funk that perfectly captures the sound of the era.

Standout tracks include "The Promise," a haunting ballad featuring Jones' powerful vocals, and "Goodbye Is Forever," a catchy and upbeat song with a memorable chorus. The album also includes a cover of David Bowie's "China Girl," which is given a fresh and funky update.

Side B has a dark Maroon blank label, and a constant sine-wave
tone is present in the grooves, which is a typical feature found on
all single sided 12' maxi-singles pressed by EMI in the UK during this era.

This is the only release of this mix on vinyl. Later it appeared on the "So Red The Rose" 2CD/DVD re-release.
"There were many, many mixes of "Election Day" that were completed (and most remain unreleased). The so-called Fact and Story mix of "Election Day" was released on an unlabeled 12" single to the UK clubs. Nick and Simon have referred to this mix as the Cryptic Mix, which should not be confused with the Cryptic Cut No Voice mix which has very little lyrics."

Final note: This can be a very difficult release to identify,
as there is nothing stated on the one label other than some
oblique numbers in a gauge design, and the stamped cat. #
which only appears in the runout of side A, looks much more
like "FSLF" than "PSLP".
