Schoolboy Crush, the 1959 album by Cliff Richard & The Drifters, is a classic rock and roll record that still resonates with fans today. The album features a mix of original songs and covers, all delivered with Richard's signature energy and charisma.

The standout tracks on Schoolboy Crush include the title track, which is a catchy, upbeat tune that captures the excitement and innocence of young love. Another highlight is "High Class Baby," a rollicking song that showcases the band's tight musicianship and Richard's dynamic vocals.

The album also features a number of ballads, including "Livin' Lovin' Doll" and "Mean Streak," which demonstrate Richard's versatility as a singer. The Drifters provide solid backing throughout the album, with their tight rhythms and melodic guitar riffs.

I've always said CR started rock-n-roll in the UK and people laughed at me, this is 1960, the Beatles were still at school, the stones were just pebbles, the animals were all puppies and Ozzy Osborne was still breastfeeding. he might still be doing that but we won't talk about that here. . . Ozzy is cool, so cool someone check his pulse, this is my last ever youtube post, quite fitting that it goes on a video the same age as me 62 years old, ticktockticktock. . . . . .

I'd only heard The Beatles do this tune on various bootlegs, but didn't realize, 'til I read in Tune In Vol.1 The Beatles All These Years, that Cliff Richard had a big hit with it, so I Googled the tune, found the You Tube video, and, wow, much cooler than Elvis. I'm from Nashville, so I was force fed Elvis all my life, and while I love all that REAL ROCK AND ROLL he did before going into the army, after that, he was nothing but an embarrassing fatClown, dying on the toilet. Ha ha ha.

That opening by Hank is something else and the rawness of that growl before Cliff enters.

This reminds me of Elvis Presley style of singing and dancing.

One of the best British/English Rock n' Roll records cut. Nice to see Jet Harris and Tony Mehan as part of the original Shadows.

What a great look Hank Marvin had, just a great big geek who looked genuinely happy to be there, as well as playing some great guitar!
