Clive Palmer - Clive Live

Review by Joseph Sloan

Clive Palmer's self-titled album, "Clive," is a masterpiece of acoustic folk music. The album showcases Palmer's talent as a singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist. The songs are a blend of traditional folk tunes and original compositions, all played on acoustic guitar and banjo.

The album opens with "The Leaving of Liverpool," a traditional folk song that Palmer imbues with his own unique style. His voice is rich and expressive, and his guitar playing is impeccable. The album continues with original compositions such as "Bird in a Cage" and "The Bitter Wind," which showcase Palmer's talent as a songwriter.

Throughout the album, Palmer's banjo playing is particularly impressive. "The Drovers' Dream" and "The Cuckoo" are both traditional folk tunes that feature Palmer's banjo playing front and center. The album also includes a cover of Bob Dylan's "Don't Think Twice, It's All Right," which Palmer performs with great sensitivity and emotion.
