About Dr Buzzard's Savannah Band
Disco band formed in New York's the Bronx in 1974 by and who became one of the most original musical ensembles of the disco era. The concept of the group was the re-creation of a '30s jazz-swing band, à la , with witty lyrics, a disco beat and lush disco arrangements and orchestrations. They had a big dancefloor hit with Cherchez La Femme. After their third album, in 1979, and left & went off to form the '80s dance-band . One final Savannah Band album followed in 1984.
"Had it not been for my brother, Stony, I would have remained a school teacher. He made fun of my job to such an extent that eventually I decided to join his group, Dr Buzzards Original Savannah Band, as the bass player." in 2021.

This certainly isn't the "original" Dr. Buzzard Savannah band," yes? What tripe! Sorry Sonny (you've since passed but am sure your spirit lives on), can't believe you were responsible for this version to be aired. However, am willing to believe the video was sourced from a faulty technological upload. What a waste of Cory Daye's compelling voice, too; yes? Surely won't be adding this 'clunker' to my DYOSB playlist of their brilliant 'swinging' rhythmical tunes. Each one a gem.

While people don't care for the final mix, I like the sound of this record just fine on my stereo. And btw, Ballad of Bobby (Kennedy) is a major highlight.

The mix is unconventional, to say the least. But I'm convinced that Stoney was taking his work to another level with this one. There's a LOT of gems hidden in that mix. Well, I've waited this long so..... But really, SOMEBODY has got this on disc somewhere I'm sure.

I still cling to this amazing group with very unique musical approach. The sound so on point with their writing, instrumentation and vocals. I wish they somehow still performed live. I don't think this is Cory but it still sounds good.

it made complete sense for the to move to the 50s in the 80s, seeing as though most musicians and music at the time were inspired by that era.

This song is amazing, it has a mournful, ghostly ephemeral quality to it. You can imagine it played in a haunted house (a bit like the 1930's music in the shining) far off and distant, coming from a deserted part of the house. You can also imagine a young women singing it in an echoey church hall karaoke night after being dumped by her boyfriend. Stoney Browder was a genius.
