It was first recorded by Clyde Mcphatter and the Drifters on 9 August 1953 and released in September 1953, it Peaked at #1 on Billboard’s R&B Chart for 11 Weeks, it had sold 2million Copies by 1968.
The first cover was Ella Mae Morse with Big Dave and his Orchestra recorded in August 1954.
Elvis Presley recorded “Money Honey” on 10 January 1956, and was released on his Debut album “Elvis Presley” on 23 March 1956. The song was popular and from an EP Release it peaked at #76 on Billboard’s Pop Chart. Later on it was released as a Single but did not chart.
