Review by SHIVOM KUMAR

Emeralds' album "Wanna Make Him Mine Dancing Alone" is a refreshing and soulful addition to the pop music scene. The album is a mix of upbeat tracks and slow ballads, all of which showcase the band's dynamic range and musical talent.

The lead singer's voice is enchanting, with a hint of raspiness that gives her vocals a unique edge. The lyrics are relatable and heartfelt, touching on themes of love, heartbreak, and self-discovery.

The album's standout tracks include "Wanna Make Him Mine," a catchy and infectious tune that will have listeners tapping their feet and singing along. "Dancing Alone" is a poignant ballad that showcases the band's ability to create emotional and moving music.

Always liked the lead's voice. Sounds like she could also have fronted the Parlettes, on "Because We're Very Young"

Of course, the lead voices are very different, but there surely are echoes of "Dancing The Strand

Music author Greil Marcus wrote of the girl groups, "Few got rich, most just returned to grey oblivion". It's my hope that the members of the Emeralds, wherever they are, feel a great deal of pride knowing their handful of undeservedly obscure sides are being enjoyed and praised in 2021. If only we had an Emeralds group photo to go with the great songs they created.

What a great group they were! I put them up there with the Chiffons, in terms of harmony,  quality of material and arragnement. What a shame they didn't have  a breakout hit. Jubilee (as well as other major and tiny labels)  released a wealth of incredible vocal group records in the early 60's, yet group for group and song for song, it always seemed the girl groups had the best writers, musicians, arrangements and production values; it's a shame that more girl girl groups didn't crack the national charts, but thanks to high quality posters and YT, these groups are getting the recognition they deserved.
