Eprom, G Jones - Aikon

solrobayo

Review by Sol Robayo

Aikon, the collaborative album by Eprom and G Jones, is a masterful display of cutting-edge sound design and boundary-pushing production techniques. The album is a journey through the outer reaches of electronic music, blending elements of hip-hop, trap, bass music, and experimental soundscapes into a cohesive and immersive listening experience.

From the opening track, "Daemon Veil," Aikon sets a dark and ominous tone, with heavy basslines and glitchy percussion building tension and anticipation. The album's standout tracks, such as "Hysteria" and "In Your Head," showcase the duo's ability to create complex and intricate arrangements that are both hypnotic and danceable.

Throughout the album, Eprom and G Jones demonstrate their mastery of sound design, creating textures and atmospheres that are both otherworldly and organic. The use of vocal samples and field recordings adds a human touch to the otherwise mechanical and futuristic soundscapes.

One of the most impressive aspects of Aikon is the way in which Eprom and G Jones seamlessly blend different genres and styles into their music. The album's closing track, "Dark Artifact," is a prime example of this, with its blend of distorted guitars, trap beats, and glitchy electronics creating a unique and unforgettable sonic landscape.

Drum and Bass can still be good these days but often I find the beats square and boring. But not this! I love how they used all these raw Jungle break progression. The technical skill and the vibes are crazy with this production.

Just wanted to say I think the great parts of this music is mostly done by G Jones, not to say that Eprom is bad but just for those who are curious to where they come from it's his stuff that stands out like divine feeling of pads and crazy glitches while break beat parts are from Eprom
