Frankie Armstrong - Out Of Love Hope And Suffering

Review by Scott Calvet

Frankie Armstrong's album Out Of Love Hope And Suffering is a powerful and moving collection of songs that showcase her incredible vocal range and emotional depth. The album features a mix of traditional folk songs and original compositions, all of which are performed with a raw and unbridled intensity that is both captivating and haunting.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "The Banks Of The Nile," a haunting ballad that tells the story of a woman who is forced to leave her home and family to fight in a war. Armstrong's vocals are particularly strong on this track, conveying both the sadness and bravery of the protagonist.

Another highlight of the album is "The Lass Of Glenshee," a traditional Scottish ballad that showcases Armstrong's ability to infuse even the most familiar songs with new life and emotion. Her voice is at once powerful and delicate, conveying both the beauty and sadness of the lyrics.

Hope you read this sister.....i think about what you were like to know back then when the poet met the singer standing on the street so cool it seemed so easy then........Inside the minds mind we desperately wanted to know the meaning of all that was evasive yet we couldn't give up we each took a destined trail and most never came back to what we had because time can't stand still.......but I can be summoned from that which you were then it still resonates for me you were so cool, it's hard to want anything more...........

I'm sorry, but Frankie Armstrong's version is far superior. Her delivery matches the lyrics. I was looking for a dynamic change in Peggy Seeger's version and it's all pretty and lilting and I don't believe her when she's singing these words. You bet I believe Frankie Armstrong. Fantastic song and, sadly, it all still applies in 2018.

I love this song - The late Emily Friedman introduced me to it and I performed it for years!

Sell it. Frankie!
This song works only if you make it emphatic, as in this perfomance.

This isn't usually the kind of song I'd like listening to, but I fucking LOVE the words.

It's been said that when Frankie Armstrong sings a song, it's been sung. Much better then Peggy, sorry to say. I do miss Pete.
