Born Crazy by Free is a rock album that showcases the band’s raw energy and bluesy sound. Released in 1973, the album features nine tracks that are a mix of original compositions and covers.
The album opens with the title track, “Born Crazy”, which sets the tone for the rest of the album with its gritty guitar riffs and powerful vocals. The second track, “Mr. Big”, is a cover of a song by Free’s former labelmates, Bad Company. The band puts their own spin on the song, with Paul Rodgers’ vocals soaring over Andy Fraser’s bassline.
Other standout tracks on the album include “Goodbye”, a slow-burning ballad that showcases Paul Kossoff’s emotive guitar playing, and “Muddy Water”, a bluesy number that features some impressive harmonica work by Paul Rodgers.
