Die Planeten by Holst St Louis Symphony Orchestra Walter Susskind is a masterpiece that captures the essence of the solar system. The album features seven movements, each representing a planet in the solar system, and the orchestra does an excellent job of bringing each one to life.
The album begins with the intense and powerful Mars, the Bringer of War, which sets the tone for the rest of the album. The orchestra delivers a stunning performance that is both dramatic and emotional. The following movements, Venus, Mercury, and Jupiter, are just as impressive, with the orchestra showcasing their exceptional musicianship and attention to detail.
One of the standout tracks on the album is Saturn, the Bringer of Old Age, which is hauntingly beautiful and melancholic. The orchestra captures the somber tone of the piece perfectly, and the result is a truly moving performance.
