About Frenéticas Azimuth
As Frenéticas, musical group formed by six female vocalists, which appeared in 1976 in Rio de Janeiro, at the height of the success of Disco Music.
On August 5, 1976, composer and music producer Nelson Motta opened at a shopping centre in the neighbourhood of Gávea, Rio de Janeiro, the nightclub Frenetic Dancing Days, which became the fever nights in Rio for three months only.
To serve the few tables in the space occupied by a huge dance floor, Motta took the idea of hiring waitresses, dressed in leotards, with high heels and make-up, would care, but with an innovation: in the middle of the night, would rise by surprise on stage, sing three or four songs before returning to serve.
Sandra Pera, which was coined by Motta, who married his sister, actress Marilia Pera became interested in placement for the group and brought her friends Regina Chaves, Lidoka and Shirley, who were part of the whole Dzi Croquettes, and singer Dulcilene de Morais , Nega Dudu. Completed the sextet, indicated by the DJ of disco, the mulatta Edir de Castro, who took part in the cast of Hair. We selected a repertoire of five songs with the group rehearsed and musician Roberto de Carvalho, who then began dating singer Rita Lee.
But the success of Frenéticas, as they were called to associate them with the name of the club, was so great that thousands of enthusiastic attendees demanded that they sing more. Shows have become more than an hour and left to be waitresses.
The audience was captured by an unusual combination of spicy humor, erotic clothes and song lyrics, contagious rhythm and a dazzling performance on stage. In her first hit, Perigosa, the refrain "dentro de mim" repeated numerous times between lewd groans and cries hysterically, the tone of their presentations. With the closing of Frenetic Dancing Days, began to appear at the Teatro Rival, attracting a more diverse audience.
The frantic were the first contractors to Warner, who has just installed itself in Brazil. The first single, "A Felicidade Bate À Sua Porta" Gonzaguinha was performed on the radio too. Then, the first LP "Frenéticas" quickly sold 150,000 copies and received a Gold Record.
At the end of the 70's they achieved the unprecedented feat of craft the opening theme of two novels of Rede Globo, Dancin' Days and Feijão Maravilha. Then came three more albums for Warner.
In 1982, Sandra Pera and Regina Chaves left the group and the remaining quartet signed to the label Top Tape. But the only album released by this label was not a success and the group disbanded in 1984.
However, the sextet reunited in 1992 to record the opening theme of the novel Perigosas Peruas, Globo, and two new songs for a compilation of their hits released on CD. Until then, the discography of the group comprised of only vinyl LPs. Another compilation CD was released in 1999.
