The Futurians - Citadel

Review by M.A. Iglesias

Citadel, the latest album by Futurians, is a mesmerizing journey through the depths of experimental music. The New Zealand-based trio has crafted a collection of tracks that are both haunting and hypnotic, with layers of sound that build and evolve over time.

The album opens with the eerie and atmospheric "Exodus", which sets the tone for what is to come. From there, the listener is taken on a sonic journey that is equal parts unsettling and beautiful. "The Void" features a pulsing beat and disorienting synth lines, while "Citadel" is a sprawling epic that builds to a frenzied crescendo.

One of the standout tracks on the album is "Starlight", which features a driving bassline and shimmering, ethereal synths. The track is a perfect example of Futurians' ability to create a sense of otherworldliness through their music.

Summary by M.A. Iglesias

Citadel is a fascinating and immersive listening experience. The album is not for everyone, as it requires a certain level of patience and openness to fully appreciate. However, for those who are willing to take the journey, the rewards are great. Futurians have created a work of art that is both challenging and rewarding, and one that will stick with the listener long after the final notes have faded away.
