Review by Anindito Respati

Hank Mobley's second album, "Mobley's 2nd Message," is a masterpiece of hard bop jazz. Released in 1957, the album features Mobley on tenor saxophone, alongside trumpeter Donald Byrd, pianist Horace Silver, bassist Doug Watkins, and drummer Art Taylor.

The album opens with the title track, a swinging composition by Mobley that showcases his melodic skills and the tight interplay between the band members. "Procrastination" is a bluesy number with a catchy riff, while "No Argument" is a fast-paced tune with complex harmonies and solos.

"Fin de L'affaire" is a beautiful ballad that highlights Mobley's soulful playing and Byrd's lyrical trumpet. The album closes with "Bossa de Luxe," a bossa nova-inspired piece that adds a touch of Latin flavor to the mix.
