Herb Alpert - When The Lights Go Down Low

Review by Olly Goddard

When The Lights Go Down Low, the latest album by Herb Alpert, is a smooth and soulful collection of jazz standards and original compositions. Alpert’s signature trumpet sound is front and center, but the album also features lush arrangements and sultry vocals from a variety of guest artists.

One standout track is “Unforgettable,” a duet between Alpert and vocalist Lani Hall that showcases their chemistry and musicality. The album also features a cover of “What a Wonderful World” that is both nostalgic and uplifting.

Alpert’s original compositions on the album, such as “Sugarfoot” and “The Morning After,” are equally impressive and demonstrate his ability to write catchy melodies that stick in your head long after the music has stopped.
